Laundry

I find most housework frightening because it involves scary appliances such as vacuum cleaners, carpet sweepers, and irons. Doing laundry, however, is a whole different story. I just love laundry (unless my people decide to use the iron on it but, fortunately, that doesn't happen around here too often).

I love everything about laundry, from listening to the clothes swishing around in the washing machine, to hanging them to dry, to folding them, to hanging them in the closet. My people seem to think that once the laundry's hung up in the closet, then the chore is done. But that's because they've never had the fun of running around on top of hangers full of clean clothes, like I have.

Anyhow, when it's laundry day, I am always right there ready to help. I have to admit that sometimes it's a bit overwhelming and I'm not sure where to start.

But once I've figured it out, I get right to work, climbing all over the clean laundry, poking at it and chewing it. I tell you, there's nothing like it.

I Do Windows

Sometimes house cleaning is really fun, especially when it's window washing day. My person uses a spray bottle when she washes the windows, and that always gets me really excited because I just love getting spritzed. That’s my favorite way of taking a bath. I squawk and squawk when the spray bottle comes out. But the best part of window washing is the squeaky sound that happens when my person rubs the windows clean. I join right in and squeak and squeak. It’s all about squawking and squeaking. That’s why I love window washing.

More on Chores

There is a scary monster that lives in the closet. It’s big and blue and loud. It really roars. It roams around on the floor sniffing all over with it’s big, long nose, sucking up anything that gets in its way. It likes to come over to my cage and suck up all the bits of food that I’ve thrown out of my dish. Whenever it comes near, I squawk at the top of my lungs, but it doesn’t pay any attention to me. Even my mighty squawk cannot be heard over the monster’s terrible roar. I hate that thing. I guess they keep it around because it helps clean up the house, but I don’t like it at all. Vacuum cleaning is definitely the scariest household chore there is. What household chores are you afraid of? Tell us about them in the comments.

Laundry

Don’t you just love laundry? I think there is nothing more fun than climbing up neatly stacked piles of folded laundry, then watching it all tumble down…to the dirty floor! Chewing holes in clean socks is really fun, too. Best of all, though, is watching the washing machine at work. What sounds it makes! Someday, I will get my beak under that lid and open it up and get to the bottom of the mystery…Where does that sound come from? As soon as I find out, I’ll let you know. Anyhow, you can probably tell that doing laundry is my favorite household chore. What household chores do you like to do?
