Toaster Oven

I do love a nice crunchy piece of toast. That's why I'm friendly with the toaster oven. In fact, I once wrote a poem singing its praises. When it's feeling generous, it opens its mouth wide and offers up a couple of pieces of toast. But it's a moody fellow and you never know when it will decide to just sit there and give you the cold shoulder.

I think, though, if I stand there and stare at it long enough, it will get the message and produce the toast.

Laundry

I find most housework frightening because it involves scary appliances such as vacuum cleaners, carpet sweepers, and irons. Doing laundry, however, is a whole different story. I just love laundry (unless my people decide to use the iron on it but, fortunately, that doesn't happen around here too often).

I love everything about laundry, from listening to the clothes swishing around in the washing machine, to hanging them to dry, to folding them, to hanging them in the closet. My people seem to think that once the laundry's hung up in the closet, then the chore is done. But that's because they've never had the fun of running around on top of hangers full of clean clothes, like I have.

Anyhow, when it's laundry day, I am always right there ready to help. I have to admit that sometimes it's a bit overwhelming and I'm not sure where to start.

But once I've figured it out, I get right to work, climbing all over the clean laundry, poking at it and chewing it. I tell you, there's nothing like it.

Another Hatch Day

It's my hatch day today!

I look pretty good for an 18-year-old, don't you think?

Another Predator

Look at this thing I have to live with:

My person calls it "carpet sweeper." She can call it anything she likes but that doesn't disguise its true identity -- monster. Fortunately, it spends most of its time lurking in its den (the closet), but every once in a while it makes an appearance, then I have to take off and get out of there as fast as I can. This morning it had me squawking and flapping all over the house. But when I finally made it back to the safety of my cage, it followed me right into the room! And, my person was following along right behind it. On top of that, she was touching it. She had her hand right on the monster's handle. What is the matter with her?

Breakfast

There's nothing like a warm bowl of oatmeal on a cold winter morning.

Yummy!

Now where can I wipe this cereal off my beak?

My Workspace

Some of my fans have expressed interest in seeing what my workspace looks like. Here's a photo of me at the computer:

Somehow that darned cow keeps showing up on top of the delete key, and then I have to push it out of the way. You'd think someone didn't want me stepping on that key, or something. I can't imagine why. Anyhow, as you know, I spend a lot of time at the computer, helping my person and my step-person. By the end of the day, I get very tired and have to take a little snooze:

Sigh. It's a bird's life.

Work, Work, Work

You may be wondering how I've been spending my days lately since I haven't been blogging. Well, let me tell you, my step-person has been keeping me very busy helping him with his work.

I have to spend the entire day sitting on his shoulder while he does things on the computer. You can see in the photo what a tough job it is. But I'm glad to do it. I'm happy to do my part to keep things going around here, especially if it involves getting a treat when I'm done. I don't know what my step-person would do without me to help him. But I can only do it on the days he works at home. I can't imagine how he gets anything done when he goes to the office and has to work without my help.
