Turkeys!

Look at what I saw outside my window the other day! Turkeys are nice birds, but I sure am glad I'm not a turkey, especially at this time of year. I mean, aside from the fact that I wouldn't want to end up on someone's Thanksgiving dinner table, I just don't see the point of all that wandering around in the snow scavenging for food. We pet parrots are sensible enough to stay inside where it's warm and the food dish is full.

Another Hatch Day

It's my hatch day today!

I look pretty good for an 18-year-old, don't you think?

Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone. I hope you have a very thankful day. This year, as always, I am thankful that I am a parrot and not a turkey. I am also thankful that I am not a dumb robin or some other outside bird hungrily poking around in the cold snow in case I might happen to find a piece of rotten fruit or a stray seed or some other tiny tidbit to eat but instead live inside in a nice warm cage with a full food dish even though my people don't let me out of the cage all the time but sometimes make me stay in there even when I want to get out and sit on their shoulders and bite their ears even though they are busy doing something else and then when I start squawking in protest, they shut the door to my room. But it's still a lot nicer than having to live outside in the cold snow and not have any people to love and feed you.

Merry Christmas

Here I am enjoying a special treat I got for Christmas -- a seed treat! Yummy! I hope your holidays are splendid and that you get to enjoy lots of treats, too!

Cookies!

Do you like December? I do, mostly because it's the holiday season and that's when my person makes gingerbread cookies. Yummy! I just love gingerbread cookies.Well, I love any kind of cookie, but my favorite kind of all is gingerbread. That's because gingerbread is so chewable, and we parrots love to chew. Also, my person always makes a few small gingerbread men just for me to eat. She's never made me any gingerbread parrots though. Hmmm. I wonder why.

Thankful

It's that thankful time of year again and time for my annual Thanksgiving post. This year I am thankful that I have a nice, big food dish and a person who always keeps it full. I am thankful that I have seed treats and a person who gives them to me every day. I am thankful that there is a furnace in the house that keeps me warm all winter and that I don't have to fly south for the winter like some of those outside birds.  I am thankful to be a parrot and not a robin so I get to eat seeds and fruit inside in my cage and not worms outside in the mud. And, most of all, at this time of year I am thankful to be a parrot and not a turkey.

New Year's Resolutions

That scary white stuff is all over the place outside, but I'm safe and warm inside in my cage with my walnuts and seed treats. It's the last day of the year and time for my parrot new year's resolutions. For 2013, I resolve to squawk as much as I can and eat as many walnuts as I can and be as cute as I can, and I also resolve to welcome everyone who visits our house with lots of preening and I'll try not to squawk too loudly in their ears but I'm not making any guarantees because I am, after all, a parrot.

The Thankful Parrot

Well, it's that time of year again -- Thanksgiving -- and time for my annual thankful blog. This year, as always, I am thankful to be a parrot and not a turkey. I am thankful to have a comfortable cage and a food dish that always is filled with tasty things to eat. I am thankful for my daily seed treats. I am thankful to have a kind person who feeds me and pets me and gives me a seed treat every afternoon, even though sometimes she yells at me when I chew her things or bite her and even though sometimes she makes me stay in my cage when I don't want to be there and even though sometimes she goes out all day and leaves me alone at home and even though sometimes she uses that scary vacuum cleaner near my cage and even though sometimes she plays with predatory things like scissors that I have to protect her from, but I love her anyway.

Happy Fourth

Happy 4th of July to those of you who enjoy his holiday. I don't much because all it means is that I have to spend the day alone in my cage while my person goes to the parade. But she'll probably leave me lots of treats, and also I have plenty of popsicle sticks to chew while I wait for her to return, so at least that's something. The other think about this holiday is that it's all about red, white and blue. What's the point of that? Now a holiday that's all about green, like my beautiful feathers, is something I could really celebrate.

Happy St. Patrick's Day

I love this holiday even though I don't have a drop of Irish blood in me. (I'm actually of South American extraction.) I love it because it's all about green, and that's my favorite color. I always wear green on St. Patrick's Day. Actually, I wear green everyday. I say: If you can wear green, why wear any other color? What about you? What do you like about St. Patrick's Day? Tell us about it in the comments.

Parrot Valentine

Since Valentine's Day is coming up soon, I thought I'd post this picture of me with my Valentine, Quentie. My godmother, Abbie Emmanuel, took this picture of us. Even though I left Quentie behind in the city, I will never forget him. He will always be my Valentine. I just love preening him. That's how we parrots show affection to each other.

Thankful

Since it’s Thanksgiving, I’ve been thinking about the things I am thankful for. There are lots of them. First, I am thankful for my nice, comfortable cage, my always-full food dish, and my water bottle. I am also thankful for the seed treats that I get almost everyday. I am thankful for my toys, especially my toothbrush, which I love to hold and to chew. I am thankful for all my friends, both human and avian. Most of all, I am thankful that I have such a nice person to care for me and love me. What are you thankful for?
